I'm going to admit defeat with this one unless someone has any bright ideas. I'm trying to find the family of my aunt's adopted father, to give some idea of 'needle and haystack' he was Welsh and his surname was Williams.
The only information I have is.........
Her adopted father was called Haydn Williams and was born in Glamorgan in 1914. From Haydn's marriage certificate it gives his father's name as James Williams a Colliery Repairer.
I have no idea of the mother's christian name let alone surname.
Haydn had 3 siblings, Maud, Cyril, and Florence M Williams, but I have no idea if they were younger or older than him.
Haydn married in 1940 when he was 25, and the witnesses were Cyril and Florence. They must have been 21 or over to have been witnesses, so must have been born before 1920.
I can't find any of the 3 siblings on the 1911 census, in Glamorgan, with a father called John, so assume they must have been born between 1911 and 1920. I have tried doing a spreadsheet for each of the children born with those names, and their mothers' maiden names but I can't get any 4 Williams children to have the same mother......
I'm stuffed unless anyone has any other suggestions (I'm not even sure which Haydn is correct in 1914 to send for a birth certificate)
oops no there isn't there's one Q4 1913:
Name: Haydn Williams
Birth Date: 21 Dec 1913
Death Registration Month/Year: Oct 1985
Age at death (estimated): 71
Registration district: Merthyr Tydfil
Inferred County: Mid Glamorgan
Volume: 27
Page: 17
She can't remember his date of birth but he died in York in October 1966 aged 52, and he was married in March 1940 aged 25 so I assume he must have been born in Q2 or Q3....
The cousin has rung back with a DOB which narrows it down to one........having said that does knowing the mother was called Price really help in Wales?
