What is a nice way to say it belting down snow?

My husband has used belting down, bucketing and good dump - none which I am happy with! He has also promised there will be 8" tonight!
Any nice girly way of saying heavy snow fall? :-)

quilting...friends daughter described heavy snow as a big duvet on the garden so now when its really heavy it's quilting with snow
