Dvd/Blu-ray volume

I have my Samsung Blu-ray player connected to my Samsung TV via a HDMI cable, yet when I watch TV the volume is set anywhere between 5-12, but when I am watching a film whether it be DVD or Blu-ray I have to have the TV volume up to 35-40 if not more!

any reasons why this is?

check the connections on the cable.

Ive got a new sansung tv and BR player and im having no trouble with the sounds. But if i dont have the connections tight on my other tv and DVD player the sound is very low
