gingejbee but i always like mixing my favourites, icecream and chocolate sauce rice with meat and sardines with cheese
Pesto is made with pine nuts, basil and peccorino cheese, although walnuts or cashews can be used, so any of those nuts would be superb.

On a different tack, have you tried the Greek orzo, which is pasta in the form of grains, strongly resembling pine nuts?
I use Orzo for thickening stews. :-)
