engine codes can they be scratched legally?
i recently bought an engine from direct engines. i specified i needed an AQN engine and when it arrived it had neither engine code or engine number on. the company are claiming that its tough Sugar and the engine works so there is no problem. Also the engine doesnt fit the car so it is obviously not an AQN engine. The man at Direct engines claims that both code and number can be scratched of in a cat B insurance write off. I spoke to the DVLA and the guy there said that as far as he knew this wasn't standard practice.
problem is i have a car with no engine and an engine which doesn't fit either the code i specified at time of purchase or the car. What to do?? Thanks

sgree with buenicho.
We had a local criminal that has just got 14 years plus a secondary for drugs, handling, money laundering, menacing threats, arson of Devon and Cornwall highway equipment and also running a number of heavy trucks using the same VIN and engine numbers. Cleverly he replicated the one legit vehicle that he had to fool the "polis" when he was pulled over.
And he wasnt done for holding to Customs and Excise folk against their will. Nice man to know, me thinks.
