I was such a huge fan of David Tennant's Doctor. I think he was a really hard act to follow and anybody else was going to find it difficult to be accepted. I didn't see yesterday's episode so can't comment on that. Happy Boxing Day one and all.
I switched off after 15 minutes as Matt Smith's constant over-the-top babbling was driving me mad. And I have never understood the appeal of his companion. I find her even more annoying than the Doctor. Her voice, accent, dress sense (or lack of it), acting...all dire. Bring back Rose or Martha or Donna or...well, anyone else really. What was once a must-see programme has now, for me, become a must-miss one.
Don't watch it at all now. I gave it a fair chance to get to like it but things happened since David Tennant and the other writer left, and it just wasn't enjoyable anymore. First they mucked about with the tune, then it seemed just like a new actor was playing the part of DT playing the doctor, and as for the daleks revamp - disgraceful!!. My immediate thought with the new daleks was like when they revamped and chunked up the Mini - the thing is it worked for the car.
Agree it's not the same without David Tennant but I seem to be alone in enjoying the Christmas episode. Then again I am a sucker for the whole time travel thing :)
