legal mp4 downloads

Hi, I am Tottally new to MP4's and Downloading music in general, I still use CD's. However I have bought an MP4 for my 7year old and would like to purchase/download a selection of music videos tracks for her.I want to be totally legal and go through a proper site,but when I do a google search there are just too many results to sort through.
Can anyone recommend a site to use which are easy to use and reasonably priced for someone who only buys a small amount of tracks at a time?
