Three of my favourite films are on TV today; Cromwell, Zulu and Dr Zhivago, and they all overlap. Typical. You wait ages for a film and then three arrive together!

Zulu for me from that bunch - Michael Caine and Stanley Baker are superb.

Yes - brilliant, I agree.
You have great taste, horseshoes.

Did you know that the narrator is Richard Burton?

Gonna miss it as out this afternoon as all gonna see Tron Legacy in 3D as apparently really good. Jeff Bridges is a great actor too.
I love Dr Zhivago. I`d choose that one.
^ you romantic beauty, 23 :)
If I was on my own, it'd definitely be Dr Zhivago, a beautful film, and one which has me humming the theme tune all bloody day long too!

However, everyone home here, so probably Zulu.
spud LOL. Actually it`s the cinematography I love most although Omar is a close second
Zulu all the way!!!!!
"If it's a miracle Colour Sergeant, it's a short chamber boxer Henry, point 4-5 caliber miracle."
Zulu every time. Didn't know it was on today but will be watching now. Ivor Emmanuel singing "Men of Harlech" he's got a great voice. Ivor and Richard Burton were born in the same town.

"and a bayonet Sir, wih some guts behind".
Zulu it is then.

PS I saw Ivor Emmanuel singing in a show in Manchester with Morcambe and Wise when they started their egg and paper bag trick.
Definitely Zulu it is unbeatable. But can't you record one at least of the others - then you could watch later at your leisure.
Question Author
Starbuck - agreed - Zulu it is. Can't record as we don't have a recorder.
Oh, no luck there then. Never mind, they will repeat it again some other time. Why does one always assume that everybody else has the same facilities as they do (recording I mean).
Question Author
That's OK Starbuck. We used to have a recorder; we used to have Sky, but found we hardly ever used the recorder and Sky was a complete waste of money(for us anyway). The only channel I ever watched was UK Gold - hardly worth the £48 a month. The main reason we got Sky was for the football. No we'll just watch the highlights. Then there was the boxing - it would be on Sky but you had to pay again with Pay-per-View. Rip-off. If I'm ever THAT bothered about missing something (hardly ever) I can now usually watch it on the BBC I-Player or the ITV version of it, and it's OK - better on the laptop though - it always stalls on the TV.
You're quite right horsey - it is expensive unless you sit there watching all day. And come to think of it whenever I watch it is usually Alibi or sometimes ITV3 and channel 4. A definite ripoff. So it's definitely Zulu by a vast majority!
Cromwell is probably Richard Harris' greatest performance.
Question Author
Oh I don't know TTG, he was brill in This Sporting Life too, playing not a very nice person at all.
Question Author
You won't believe this. Zulu was about 10 minutes in and visitors arrived unexpectedly, so it was Dr Zhivago after all. Oh well.
I had an hour of Zulu before Son, Girlfriend and Grandson turned up and OH turned it off. Not happy but at least I have it on DVD. So will go back to it later followed by Zulu Dawn. Not as good but watchable.
