do you leave your chargers plugged in?

i have just been reading about those poor children who died in a house fire. It seems it could have been caused by a phone charger. Mine is plugged in all the time, but I think I'll definitely unplug it now.
Do you leave yours plugged in?

No but I`ve heard of phone chargers catching fire before

At work our chargers are plugged in 24/7 and they never seem to overheat, maybe it only happens with cheapo chargers

I fail to see how a plugged-in charger can overheat if it is not connected to an appliance. Anyway, it's a simple matter to turn off the electric switch if a charger is left in a socket and then there cannot possibly be a flow of current to create heat.

However, I am open to being proved wrong.

I think they are left on with the power supply still on. Mine are plugged into one of those short extension leads with 4 plugs. It never gets switched off by the plug....although it might now.

All chargers will continue to draw current while plugged in whether it is connected to an appliance or not. They are a step down transformer so will continue to work and produce heat. Most wont cause any problems apart from a higher energy bill, however it only takes one shoddy circuit board to cause problems.

Hi ummmm...I use a number of short extension leads with four sockets but they are the type with individually switched sockets. Much safer in my opinion; for what it's worth.!! :-)

Batteries last longer if they are not constantly on charge.
