yeah but see the thing is...
i was told about this party by a friend but she didn't actually invite me, but the girl who just bailed on me who i was supposed to go with said it's fine, it's open doors on new year and we do the girl who is having the party and speak to her so it's fine. so i don't want to turn up on my own!

Not a friend. Find another one and make sure you don't trust her again. Go down the local pub they welcome anyone and all will be celebrating come what may. That is if you are old enough of course.
