callboy - as this quiz was only published today, don't you think you've got plenty of time to search for the answer yourself? The answer is reasonably easy to find given a bit of searching either in good books or on the net. Oh, and before anyone mentions it, I'm not the so called AB police (my name is football related-the red half of Manchester).

I have searched the net and cannot find the answer.I have completed the rest of the quiz and after hours of searching cannot find the answer,although singer is the most likely from what I've found.I do my own research and rarely ask a question and when I do I don't expect Salad Chefs like you to get on their high horse.

The Geoffrey Freer Stakes are run at Newbury. Ignore boysinblue, even at Christmas he can't resist having a dig.

squarebear - if you did a bit more research you would know that Newbury stages races named after all of them! Oh, and not a dig, just a comment (politely put) that we are all entitled to.

callboy - congratulations on answering all the other questions. However, as the quiz was only published yesterday, I fail to see how you've spent so long on it? As for the name calling, what satisfaction do you get from that?

However, I think he's a couple of lengths ahead of boysinblue, if only for the ' don't get on your high horse ' pun.( intended or not ).

Callboy - According to the book "A History of Harrow 1324-1991" Rattigan was a source of a story to his then lover Geoffrey Gilbey who was a racing correspondent with the Daily Express. The Geoffrey Gilbey Memorial Handicap is run at Newbury in March. I've managed the rest of the Quiz but am unsure about Q27 regarding next in the sequence. I am not 100% on what the connection is?

I have done them all and Q27 is the egyptian plant (1923 derby winner papyrus) spion kop,humorist and captain cuttle were the three preceding derby winners

I remember when only one or two people got 50 right in the Racing Post Quiz. Now thanks to these sites anyone with an internet connection and some savvy can do it. Is this a good thing (discuss)?
