Crown Paints (2nd try)
I'm curious about a the music that was featured in this advert. It is something that has haunted me for ages. As all adverts it only last a minute or so but the music is great. As far as I can remember it was shown in the 1970's or 80's. I can't be any more precise than that. I've tried all the means I can to trace this advert, all to no avail.
All the search engines I've used only seem to go back as far as the 90's for Crown Paints.
I would also like to know if the piece was written purely for the advert (unlikely as it such an impressive piece and only lasts a minute or so) or is part of larger work and who wrote it if possible.
thanks in anticipation

thanx smixtro
unfortunately not this one.
As far as I can remember (I'm getting old) I think the advert I on about would have been out long before this Crown Solo ad.
As I said in my original description the main theme of the ad was a full orchestra and conductor playing the music I'm interested in. Then the ad goes over to animation/effects to show a drop of paint falling into a pool of paint and the splash it makes on entry forms the shape of a crown.
Anyway thanx for your input and efforts
cheers imcurious,

I'm not at all sure about the old Crown logo. but I'm fairly sure you're in the correct time frame. What you say does ring a bell, but its only vague in my memory. What does stand out in my mind is the "splash" of paint that bounces up to form the perfect shape of a crown at the conclusion of the ad. It was very colourful and the theme was dominated by the scene of a conductor leading an orchestra.

The piece of music you are after from the advert where the orchestra all come in one by one on different colours was called "shades". It was played by the United Kingdom Symphony Orchestra and conducted by Donald Gould. Side B was called Double Meaning and was released in 1985. The 7" single was released with a picture of the orchestra on the front cover. It was produced by the "Food For Thought" record label. Ive never found a video of it but I do have an mp3 of the full piece If you send me and email at [email protected]
