He was indeed. I first saw him on stage 30 years ago, can';t remember the name of the play at the moment. And not an old man, either.

I first remember him coming to the forefront in Brassed Off. A great actor - Stephen Speilberg said that he was the best actor in the world, and Pete brushed it off, saying it made him sound like a brand of lager. Unassuming, will be missed by his fellow professionals.
64 I believe, a victim of cancer. Too early gone.
He was in Brassed Off (1996) that was partly filmed in Delph Village Saddleworth
were we live, had a drink with him in Delph Band Club between filming
nice chap.
Yes, I was sorry to hear him go too, as I could never pronounce his name! He only lived about 5 miles away from me, and he was one of Hollywood's big actors.
I remember him as Kobayashi.... not looking very Japanese, I thought, but the film had an explanation for that.
Brilliant actor

He had great stage presence.
About 10yrs ago I was walking through a park in Manchester with my toddler, husband and parents and noticed a film crew, so we stopped to watch. I recognised Pete Postlethwaite and we were invited to be extras in a scene with him! Very exciting. it was called the Butterfly Collectors and was very good.
