I love Rufus Hound, Leigh Francis (Keith Lemon), Lee Evans but the master has to be Billy Connolly. Also love Morecambe & Wise (good programme about them recently) Kelly Monteith, Rich Hall, and Lucille Ball.

There's bound to be more. Richard Ayaode is fabby too: Go Moss!

oooh Dagman you can't beat Spike and the Goons, my mum loved them and I've got some old recordings of them too. That's just reminded me, The Goodies, had me in kinks! loved them too.

Hi Marty, yeah MM irritates the heck out of me but showed that he can be funny on that show. As for Jack Dee, he's class.

hi there Judge, hope you're well and all the best to you for 2011 x I've listened to a bit of Bill Hicks and enjoyed him in a kind of rude Max Boyce type of way lol

Got to agree re Paul Merton there standian.

Yeah tiggs, my granda used to watch Kelly M....(kidding)
Standian..... who can forget 'the naming of knicker brook' ' a shower of shiit over cheshire--widening the A5--'the pub that changed colour. A story teller/comedian/after dinner speaker of his time ...Blaster Bates...brilliant

My mum also loved Peter Cook and Dudley Moore.I liked them but was surprised when I listened to their early stuff as they were dead rude lol
Has anyone mentioned Bob Monkhouse - I don't think I really appreciated his talent until after he died.
(Mind you I remember The Golden Shot in the 70's)
Jasper Carrot is amazing in a live show.
You prefer Bob Monkhouse after he died, Hopkirk? Does this then mean he is dead funny?
Question Author
Hopkirk as much as Bob Monkhouse was a great comedy writer, I didn't rate him as a performer.
Dave Allen......
