Over the last month, I have been experiencing a strange pain. It's hard to explain where it is, It's at the back of my armpit, but not IN the armpit, just where it runs into my back. It's more annoying than painful and it feels bruised, but isn't. I can't feel any lumps and it's not actually sore to the touch, more when I reach behind me. Sometimes it's more obvious than others and I can often forget about it, but today it has niggled all day. I am 42 and in good health otherwise. I'd appreciate ANY ideas as to what could be causing this! Thanks.

Certainly sounds muscular in origin and no big deal.

Take Ibuprofen 600mgms when and if necessary and monitor the situation for 2 weeks.

Thanks Sqad, that's reassuring, It has annoyed me all day, but now seems to have disappeared! It's never been painful enough to warrant analgesia, just irritating! I was just a little concerned with where it is - so near to glands etc. Thanks again for the quick reply.
No problem.
Check out calcifying tendonitis ? That often causes pain on reaching backwards - especially when you scratch your back / undo bra ! Since I don't know your gender, that may not apply !!
Can be really painful.
Just a thought.

Thanks oopsydoopsy, I'll do that. I am female and it's when putting on/removing my bra that I notice it most! It's quite sore this morning again and I think if it's still annoying me I'll venture in to the gp on monday. Thanks again!
