Why do people do this?

Was just flicking through the site as you all do, and a question just answered was flagged in the side. Anyway, not knowing whether it was actually an answer or a fresh question, I popped in to look - turns out it was an answer.

Thing is, it was an answer to an old question last answered (correctly) by two other people two days ago. Yet despite that, this person had to answer it again, and again with the same answer. Why? - it makes no sense to do that.
