They are merely two different breeds mated together and given a 'fancy' name. You will pay hundred of pounds for one and there will be no health checks done as there are no papers for them so you cannot get the health tests. Don't tell me there are no health problems, as both breeds have genetic problems and if they carry the gene then they can produce puppies with problems. If the size of the beagle comes out in the puppies, not only will the bitch have trouble producing the puppies but they may have problems with their breathing, as pugs are a bracephalic breed. If they take after the beagle, which is a hound bred to work and run all day, the body restrictions of the pug will mean a very frustrated dog that cannot physically do what its head it telling it it wants to do.
As for the link given, they are off the planet if they think that by keeping 'pedigrees' they will become a registered breed.
This takes generations to achieve, with test matings, not just mating two different breeds together. What will the next generation be, if you mate back to a pug they will be three quarter pugs, and vice versa, if you mate two 'puggles' together you will have a total mongrel.
There are almost 200 recognised breeds in this country, why breed mongrels and try to pass them off as a pure bred breed.
Sorry if I offend anyone, no, I take that back, I don't care if I offend anyone.

After my little outburst I thought I'd google puggles, and lo and behold, came up with this site, which you might find interesting!

Iankeela thank you for you comments, pmsl at bull sh*t dogs :}
Wolf they may look cute, but the health problems these dogs are going to have are unthinkable.......I really thought it was a joke.
Its ok breeding dogs, selling them for god knows how much......and then the owner paying thousands to treat the dog when the breeding programs goes terrible wrong, its heartbreaking and so upsetting

I agree robotics, pedigree breeds already have enough inherited conditions that breed clubs are desperately trying to sort out, while backstreet breeders keep producing pups that are not tested and the unsuspecting public buy them and then blame all the responsible breeders when we are trying our best to eradicate such problems. The Animal Health Trust and Cambridge University in conjunction with the Kennel Club Health Foundation Fund are working flat out on a DNA test for an eye problem my breed has, and careful breeding has cut down the incidence of it, but we have some unscrupulous breeders who don't care about studying pedigrees, they just mate any dog with any bitch and some don't bother to register them. Pet people think they are getting a bargain because they buy a dog cheaper (only a little) without papers, but in fact they are setting themselves up for big expense and much heartbreak.
Lankeela we don't really want your comments, They may not be inbred sorry pedigree puppies and I can understand where your coming from. But I must say I don't agree I bought a pedigree king charles spaniel. not to show in the show ring. Any dog can have problems. My wee cavalier king charles had a rare genetic condition which causes her a lot of neck pain and inevitably will shorten her life. she has cost me thousands in vet fees but she is my pet I couldn't have taken her back to the breeder because she was part of the family. The same would apply had she been a mongrel. I like the puggle I do think it's a shame that so many end up in shelters any dog could. what is the point of having pedigree dogs until we start having pedigree humans. I have diabetes does that mean I should never have had children??
Sorry lilo cannot understand what you are trying to say.....I too have a pedigree dog, with a list of genetic problems as long as my arm, which I to am paying thousand to keep him pain free,
Even tho he has genetic conditions I am planning on mating him to a Westie, I have always liked Westies so I am curious to see how it turns out.
Read the last paragraph and ask yourselves would I be a responsible breeder by doing this.......then again ask yourself are the breeders of the Puggles are responsible breeders, no health checks no papers etc
people like me who have a dog suffering with generic problems caused by bad breeding are appalled that breeders are messing around with genetics and selling them for not for the love of the breed.
Mongels are not sold as pedigrees, the Puggles are and a pedigree prices if not more.................puppy farms at there best

Sorry, but the puggle is a monstrously bad piece of cross-breeding which, for the reasons given above, should not be encouraged. Cross-breeding is not necessarily a bad thing. To work it requires two breeds that are compatible in size, temperament and type ( i.e what they were historically bred to do). The pug and the beagle fit none of these criteria, indeed quite the reverse.
If you must have a crossbreed 'designer dog' get a ********/cockerpoo [American cocker spaniel x miniature poodle].These breeds are compatible, the resulting dog is healthy and does not moult. (I once bred a litter of these by an accidental mis-mating of my Am cocker bitch with my min poodle stud. Most went as hearing dogs for deaf people, for which they were excellent, and the two I kept proved delightful and sound )
There are over 160 breeds on the Kennel Club list. If you can't find a purebred, pedigree, breed to suit you there, then you really aren't trying hard enough !
