but not sure what to wear with them.. any ideas? do you think a lighter colour would be nicer? more chino-type trousers than jeans? more beigy?

If they are a lighter beige then I think Black or Chocolate brown would look really classy. If they are as dark as the ones in the picture, then cream or light beige would be good. It can be difficult to put beige with other colours.
