I got a Rubik Cube at Christmas an I really want to be able to solve it. I've looked at a few websites but usually the instructions are too crazy to follow unless your a nuclear scientist or something. So far I'm able to solve the first two layers but I cannot find a fool proof way of completing the final layer. Does anyone have a surefire technique for solving it?

Guys, the thing is I can solve the cube easily by looking up websites, that is not the issue. I'm looking for a set series to solve the final layer rather than having to know 7 or 8 different sets of twists depending on the orientation of the cubes at any one time.
I probably bought the same little book that Hopkirk refers to - the technique is similar to the website that one has to (unfortunately) pay for the final layer.
The technique to solving these things is the same each time - you analyse the required switch of faces and perform a set sequence of operations to effect that switch - then onto the next required switch and so on.
I could never remember all of the different options - some people can.
It is impossible to describe like this - you need something that shows you in pictures.
