Personalising your santander card?! HOW?!
14 Answers
Has anyone else tried this?! I opened an account with them and received a letter this week telling me to go to their website, www.santander.co.uk, where you can personalise your bank card with a picture!
I can't find a single link to anything related to this! Have any of you had any more success? It's driving me mad! OK, if it's no longer a service they offer, fine! But it clearly says, 'follow the simple instructions.' Either I'm going mad, or the instructions are far from simple because they're not there!

Personalised ATM cards were a popular feature of Abbey accounts but, to the best of my knowledge, they disappeared when Abbey was absorbed into Santander.
If you've just received a letter about such a service, it suggests that Santander have resurrected the scheme. However, like you, I can't find anything online about it, which suggests that the letters have been sent out prematurely (i.e. before the website has been updated with the relevant information). Is there a contact phone number on the letter to check?

Thanks for your replies. To be clear, it isn't a scam and Santander clearly state that you can do it. I opened my bank account with them last week and received a letter this week confirming my bank details (account number, sort code, overdraft info etc...). This letter then tells you at the end, to go to www.santander.co.uk where you can personalise your bank card with a picture!
There is no number on the letter to ring, so I emailed customer services... but haven't had a reply! It's bizarre!
I suffer from major OCD and I'm struggling with not having a definitive answer. (Mad, I know! :) )

I've just opened an account last week and got the same letter saying I could personalise my card! What a great idea for £5 - helps prevent someone else using your card if it's a photo of you. Was going to put a photo of me and my husband on the joint account card, but the man in the branch couldn't find the link on their website either. REALLY hoping this will happen soon, I'd pay £5!
UPDATE: I have just phoned Santander and the man said they definitely don't personalise cards any more and he didn't know why the branches were still advertising this service. He said once they have completed all their bank mergers (12-15 months), they may bring the service back, but he wasn't sure. I've asked him to log the fact that I think it's a great idea and requested that they bring this service back! :o)
i have also recently opened a santander account and cudnt find the card personalisation on their website iether. after an hour of searching i realized it sez "LOG ON to www.santander.co.uk" so im assuming that u need an online account to verify who you are. only downside is they send you 2 letters 1 with username etc and 1 with password in the fassion u get card and pin AKA takes weeks and they are days appart. il keep posted on how it goes
