Portable DVD Players - adaptors & batteries

I have bought a Technika DVD portable with no battery and a mains adaptor that has a 'stick-in bit' that's bent and easily falls out. I wish to buy a new adaptor. A battery would be good too.
My question is do I have to look for an adaptor and battery specific toTechnika? Are the adaptors and/or batteries brand-specific or universal?

They are fairly 'universal' although you would need one with the correct plug and output voltage,

Which should be evident somewhere on the player.
