Assuming the engine is running as it should:-

Is this the rover that has the 16v 100bhp or so Honda-built engine?

If so then they really need to be revved around the 4,000 rpm area before they really take off.

214SEi is the K-Series K16 Rover engine.

After when did you notice any difference in performance?  Is it misfiring?  Are all pipes connected to the ECU and inlet manifold?

Please provide a bit more info.

This is going to seem silly but the cause of my problems was none other than a knackered   clutch! i had become so used of driving with the clutch in this delapidated state that i did not consider it until on tuesday when coming home from town the car would no longer drive up steep inclines, i had to abandon car in town, now have a new clutch,(280 quid) and all is well.apart from pride (fancy not knowing it was the clutch) and my bank balance is a bit smaller.

thanks for posting replies   thunderbirdt
