Hi guys, does any body know why the Royal Mail always advertise their jobs as Fixed concract fixed term? Is it a way of finding out if who they hire is any good n not a dummy so they can get rid or keep you on depending on how you get on? Anybody got any experience in this? Many thanks

Spot on. A mate of mine had a similar job and after 12 months they just said bye to him. No redundancy, notice or anything.
its because most people leave after a couple of months too, after they realise whats involved in the job . and that, say you are contracted for 5 hours a day, 1 an a half hours prep and the rest delivery, well what they dont tell you is.... if you go over your time you will not be payed for it. also if you take up work for them where the mail is already preped and you just deliver it.... beware after so long they will have you doin the prep to without extra money for it.
So they can work out who is inept and get them signed up and to the relevant union as well.
Can't think of a finer way of determining the sheep from the goats.
