They give birth astride of a grave, a light gleams an instant, then it's night...
There's neither meaning or point to it, as far as I can see
It was a theme in a novel called the Hitchhiker's Guide To The Galaxy
Sandy ... you really do like SB, don't you.
Pitstop have you ever read Hitchhikers? Its quiet good
There's also the Monty Python take on it, a film(1983) 'Monty Python's Meaning of Life'
JJ, not really he's a bit too cheerful for my taste.
Yes, I see what you mean, Sandy.

SB's works are full of cheap gags.

LOL
I am here you know :-)
Hi, Square ... x
There was a radio interview, a few years ago, with the producer of the Hitchhiker radio series. He said he suggested it because of its link with Lewis Carroll, and Adams went with the idea. The number crops up a few times in the works of Lewis Carroll (Carroll was 42 when he wrote The Hunting of the Snark, the Baker in that piece has 42 pieces of luggage and if I could find my annotated Snark I'd be able to give you other instances)
Huderon did the radio show come out before the book? or is it not in the book? Its been some years since I readit.
yes, it was originally a radio series, or at least the first book was; I'm not sure about the rest (I don't think 42 makes an appearance till late in the series)
Live.
JNO - AB Thanks for that
