Opening local files in Internet Explorer

I have Firefox set as my default browser and also have IE and Opera for testing webpages offline. I can open local files in Opera, no problem. But when I try to open files from my hard drive in IE, they don't open in IE - instead it opens my default browser, Firefox, in another window. Is there some way of overriding this, apart from switching the default every time I want to use IE?

How are you opening them, double click?

A couple of options, do a right click in explorer (thats explorer not internet explorer) and then choose open with... IE should be in the list somewhere.

Or Start IE and then go to the file menu and click open, you can then browse for the file there.

I'm opening them from the File menu within IE. You'd think this would open them in IE, but in my case, it doesn't.
