The nazis and Islam

Did Islam align itself with the nazis to any great extent during the last war. I read somewhere that Himmler had a special battalion , mostly Muslim , to deal with the Jews in the Balkans

I expect if this was the case he and his strategists were simply piggy-backing on local / regional tensions to use them for their own advantage.
He would probably have also planned a legion of Rangers supporters to deal with the 'opposition' in Glasgow.

Guess people fought on both sides. You are correct; there were Nazi troops from the balkans - mostly serbs though who were orthodox christian, but there were Islamic troops.
Saying that - there were also thousands of muslim troops from, for example, India who fought for the Allies.
