What is disgusting is that you can watch it in the Kingdom. Such punishments are rendered in public on Fridays after the mid day prayers, inc decapitation for murders etc.
As a foreigner, you get pushed forward for a front row seat...Never personally done it, but (in the 80s on visits to my Saudi agent) I have walked across the Queen's Square in Jeddah on an early Saturday morning a few times and they are out washing down the red wine......

I remember an article in the Observer a few years back about the headsman. He seemed a jolly chap and humane. He said he always had an assistant to prod the lower back of the victim and they'd straighten involuntarily. Then swish. Over in seconds.

Apparently the reason why foreigners are pushed forward to the front is as a taunt to condemned prisoners as the last thing they see before the headsman strikes is an infidel.
