Yes, Chaffinch, we have peanuts, fat balls, seed etc. In previous winters we have had numerous greenfinches, siskins, yellowhammers, several species of tits. This year we have seen only few blue tits and the usual collared doves and woodpigeons.
Try re-positioning your Bird Feeders rabet, just incase they are too accessible by Cats or Squirrels etc. The Birds could be a bit wary of feeding where they are currently located.
They must all be at mine. Normally I don't see many, but for some reason this year there are tons of them! Robins, sparrows, blue tits and wrens, and another type I'm not sure of. I don't know where they've all come from!
Do you Rabet make sure your feeders are close to a bush or somewhere they can take cover from predators easily, if necessary? The bitter weather hasn't helped, I think its killed off my wrens, the tiny birds are so vulnerable to the cold. Have you tried feeding them live meal worms? Full of protein and moist for chicks when they arrive and clean and not smelly. The birds absolutely love them and will find them in no time.
