Hi, I own a 1997 1200 Bandit and it has just suddenly developed an ignition problem. What happens is the switch is dead, like the kill switch is on, but I can jump start the bike of the starter relay. I have just put a new relay on and it is still the same, I was wandering what it could be ie ignition coils, or clutch solenoid. Any info would be gratefully received! Thanks Andy

You sure the battery is ok? I mean if it jumps then the plugs, starter motor, ignition coil etc are all ok so if you try and start it without the jump it can only be the starter switch itself or lack of power to turn the starter motor, ie battery or some connection problem between the switch and the battery or the battery and the starter motor. Have you tried fully charging the battery and then having a go? Suzuki Bandit is generally a totally reliable package, I don't think it's a major fault.

Hi, Thanks for your reply. I have fitted a new battery about 3 weeks ago. When I say I jumped the bike I mean I placed a pair of pliers across the starter relay terminals which turns the bike over, but it won`t do it with the switch. You are the 4th person to say that the Bandit is reliable so it can`t be anything serious, and hopefully that is true. I just don`t want to give a mechanic 200+ before he finds the fault.
