I have a large duvet/bedspread type thing that goes over the top of our bedding, its King size so wont fit in a normal washing machine. Used to take it to a local launderette b ut that has now closed down. Does anybody else have one of these if so how do you clean yours, could I take it to Sketchleys and if so any idea of cost? Thanks

You could take it to the Post Office......

No seriously, does your next town have a laundrette as that may prove the cheapest even allowing for the petrol. I was in Johnsons down here and heard, I believe, a figure of 45 quoted for a duvet but no idea if this was for a king, double king or a queen. The person walked out of the shop to go to the laundrette, I guess............
We took our king sized over-duvet to a local launderette for a service wash and it cost £12.
I used to take the duvets to the local dry cleaners for about £10 per duvet until I found out that they used to then take them to the local launderette for £3.40.
I have a couple of padded indian quilts/throws. I wait until the weather is fine and then wash them in the bath using a mild detergent and lukewarm water. They are difficult to wring out, so I put them in a bin liner to avoid trailing water through the house. Hang them on the line and pop out every so often to wring out the water that's migrated to the ends. I've washed them half a dozen times now over the last few years with no problem at all. It really depends what your bedspread is made of. Good luck, hope that helps.
If you have a large garden table you could dry it over that. I did that with a rug once. It looked like a white sheep in the garden ... wait until the weather is very hot.
