I've just had notice from my electricity supplier of my estimated household cost for the next 12 months. My home is all electric - no gas. Trying to make comparisons between different suppliers on the internet is like searching in a forest. They all want postcode, amount used, amount paid etc. All I want to know is which supplier(s), without too much fuss and palaver, are reputed to provide the best value for money. Perhaps I'm looking for something too simple. Any thoughts on this please?

giving your postcode, amount used and amount paid should be really easy if you have the bill

The newly-published Which? magazine (Feb) has just what you want - a report on the best and worst energy suppliers. In short, the big guys are bad and the small ones are good. The top-rated are Utility Warehouse, Ovo Energy and Ebico; the best big company is Eon.
In fact, if you put "Which? Switch" into Google you will have access to much of this report. Or, there could be a link to Which? on the right of these posts.

I find that most internet searches give unpteen quotes of how much I could save by switching to 'this or that' supplier. I'm not so interested in quotes as seeing how the different suppliers are rated compared to each other. I'm with Scottish Power at the moment and will be interested to look further at the Which? magazine. Very many thanks for these useful pointers.
hi have you tried the utility warehouse discount club for your household utilities? They provide gas, electricity, mobile phone tarriffs, broadband, mobile broadband and homephone. Everything comes on one monthly bill, so there aren't any other bills to worry about and there is no minimum contract, except on contract mobiles only.
I'm currently with them as a customer and I can honestly say I have never been happier with my bills, that is as happy as I can be when paying a bill. They are cheap and very managable. My last bill was £57 for december 2010, that was for gas, electricity, broadband and home phone, and that's for a 4 bedroom house, hence my bills don't worry me that much anymore.
They give a triple guarantee on gas and elect. Their gas will always be cheaper than British Gas. Their elec will always be cheaper than your regional supplier and they will always be extremely competative with the top 6 suppliers.
