I'm going to send off for my provisional licence soon (i've heard they take ages to get back to you) and use some (hopefully not most) of the saving in my account to pay for lessons and the test, seeing as dad won't put me on the insurance for the jag.

For those of you that only had lessons with a proper instructor in their car, how much did you spend in total? (I know this'll vary a lot)

And how much are the tests, or does it vary from company to company?

craft, that works both ways, a male friend of mines wife had lessons with a woman and they ended up running off together and leaving (my friend) her husband!

The practical test is so expensive!! Its about £60 but i had to pay for 2 lessons as well so it turns out about £100. I passed my 4th time so thats £400, just on practical tests! Not too bad considering my friend has sat his 7 times! Some people are just not destined to drive! haha :)

I'm learning at the moment, generally around £20-£30 for lessons, test is £62.

Oh how times change £1.50 per hour in the instructors car and £1.25 in my car I think I had 10 lessons and passed first time back in 1971!!!!

I got pulled over by the police on one of my earlier driving lessons (might even have been the first one) - they were checking dodgy driving instructors - I nearly had heart failure.

Thanks everyone. I didn't have that much money in the bank, and I didn't have access to msot of it anyway, but now i have I might aswell spend some of it.
