Dry & Unmanageable Hair
6 Answers
I have course thick hair. I have managed to straighten it for past 6 months but all of a sudden it is no longer working. I can't do anything with my hair. It looks wild and waves in all wrong places! I have dyed it about one month ago. Can anyone help on caring for my type of hair generally?

I gather you've been using hair straighteners? If so, carry on but try using a heat protection serum. Good luck!
theres loads of products to help with making ure hair softer, easier to manage and shiner. i find that vo5 is good - they do a sachet of shine stuff - its a greyish / blue colour packet and costs about 90p from asda - tip for u, it says leave for 3 mins - leave it on about 10 if u can makes a lot of difference. also available at the min is timotei shampoo and separate conditioner. the cherry and cotton is great. the conditioner - again there is a care system involved and it says leave for 1 minute but if u leave a lil longer it works wonders. available, again, from asda its currently on BOGOF. both have made my hair softer n the difference is amazing when straightening. (oh and i use a tiny bit of tresemme straightening balm - in a white lil bottle). but everyone is different so trying a few new products over time may help also.
I also have chemically treated, thick, wavy hair and I use an intensive conditioner once a week at least - look for the thickest one you can find, like polyfilla rather than milk! Doesn't necessarily have to be the most expensive but i do find the salon brands better than cheaper ones. Put plenty on, put a plastic shower cap on your head and leave it for at least 20mins. Also let your hair dry naturally as often as possible.
Thanx for all your advice. I'm glad I'm not alone! I feel quite low when my hair is a mess - would like to put a bag over my head! I used straighteners and after years of looking exactly the same I actually had a new look. I just felt as though the dream ended. I just want to get my hair back in condition now.
