workers manual

my employer has just renewed my contract of employment and has now introduced a workers manual which I have to go into the office and consult this 30 page folder if there is an issue. What i'd like to know, is it my right to ask for a copy, the boss seems to be adamant that it is not.

If you can see a copy any time, why should they need to supply personal ones?

There are things in there that are dubious and are not covered by my contract, therefore I would like it to consult without my boss looking over my shoulder

not yet but that is a pointless excersize because even if I never sign it after 3 months it is enforcible by law

Very important you get a copy otherwise s/he could alter and amend the original in his/her office without you knowing as and when difficulties arise. If the manual is part of your employment contract then you haven't properly been handed an employment contract if the manual is missing. Why to bosses have to be soooooooooooooooooo aaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhgggggggggggggggggggggggggg

If you've got a staff website then the document could be posted on there for everyone who works there, to look at
