Laptop beeping

My laptop beeps about every half an hour. It sounds like one munch from a pacman and is coming from the left hand side. Sound is muted btw. What is it?

How old is the laptop? I'm thinking CMOS battery might be 'alarming'

Check the Device Manager for yellow entries or 'Unknown Devices'
(Control Panel/System/Hardware/Device Manager)
Check the Event Viewer for hardware or program-related errors)

This 'could' be a problem that may only be rectified under guarantee.
However, if there are hardware device updates .. I would try those first.

Hi Al. device manager seems fine (although it does have a printer, fax and document viewer one none of which I have ever connected to). Found Event Viewer but don't understand what it's telling me.
Is this beeping a 'problem' then, I'm not noticing anything not behaving as it should

On web, seems to be related to a hardware error/report.
It might be connected to a hardware driver.
Try Windows update for hardware updates on Wireless adapter first .. Device manager .. update driver .. let it search.
What brand is it?

Try Start/Help & Support and find beep, SoundSentry. If you have a shortcut key ticked, untick it to change settings.

The very same - mine is shiny red -does that make a difference? :-)
