Losing Internet
5 Answers
Can anybody help I have been losing the Internet about 2 or 3 times a day, worse on Firefox better on Google Chrome but still does it, happens usually when I change websites (any website) to get it back I have to power down and power up router.
Things I have done to no avail.
Changed router for identical unit.
Moved router to incoming master socket and disconnected all other wiring in house so only router connected and gone on wireless.
Replaced filter.
Never seems to happen when off the Internet (the first page I click onto is OK) so I don't thinks its an external problem.
Removed cable from router to computer so only works on wireless.
All the lights on router stay as normal but ADSL on but not blinking. Which I think is normal if not connected to internet.
Network icon on taskbar say "status" connected.
Router DSL-G604T
OS Win XP SP 3
Browser Google Chrome
ISP BT Internet.
This setup is the same as I have had for years the problem has only started to happen in the last month or so.
Be grateful if anybody can help as now get on my nerves and being an OAP that does not take much.

I tried everywhere asking on the internet, google etc but to no avail. There answers only made things worse. Most things they told me what to do were not on my screen. I then had to call in an expert who fixed it for me in no time at all. Cost me £49.50 but things are perfect now better than ever . He was a real whiz kid who did it. I have now got the wife a job as a newspaper girl to help pay for it.
Reference to my last answer.I did not mean to infer that the advice given to me was no good, but being in my eighties it is difficult to follow as I am very slow at pickimg things up. I would like to express my thanks to all the wonderful people on Answer bank for the help I have received in the past
