6 weeks if you've never had a passport, one day if you are renewing an expired passport

But if you're doing a renewal my passport came back in 4 days.

Premium one-day service
The Premium service is a guaranteed service in which you deliver your application and collect your passport on the same day. It's available on weekdays for appointments before:

4.00 pm in London
1.30 pm in Liverpool
1.00 pm in Peterborough
12.30 pm in Glasgow and Newport
12.00 noon in Belfast and Durham
And on Saturdays for appointments before 11.00 am.

The waiting time for your passport will be four hours from when the application is accepted and the cashier gives you a receipt.

This service is not available for:

a first adult or first child passport
extending a limited passport
replacing a lost, stolen or damaged passport
making several or complex changes to your existing passport
Changing the name on your passport can usually be done using the Premium service. If you are unsure, call the Passport Adviceline on 0300 222 0000 and explain the changes you need.

You can get a renewal done within hours (depending on how busy they are) if you show up at the passport office. You need to make an appointment though.

i have lost my passport...it has just run out anyway though, but I still have my old one...from 10 years ago...can i renew with that?

i also have a copy of my newer passport...a colour scan...would that make me eligable for renewal on the same day?

also got alsorts of other ID etc

i think you should call them and ask. I dont such a scenario will be on their FAQs

I renewed my passport a couple of weeks ago and it came back within the week. I didn`t hand my old one in due to a work dispensation so I was effectively applying for a new one. It`s a pretty quick service either way.

As ut says in my details from the Passport Servie,the Premium One Day service is NOT available for Lost Passports.
No,I think they would want to see the newer passport NOT a copy.They will have records to show that you had a newer one,and will want to know where that wentOther ID doesn't come into it really.
You should really call the Passport Service on the phone number on my first answer and ask them.
