New PC

Hi All
Haven't been on here for a while as my old PC gave up the ghost and am now (obviously !) using my new one.
I have one question - I am using an AOC 22" WS monitor with an HP PC running Windows 7 Home premium 64 bit. When I go on to the internet, the display for any website seems to be confined to the centre of the screen as if I was using a non widescreen monitor. I have checked the display properties etc but can't find a solution. Anybody got any ideas ?
Many thanks

Yes, I have tried the maximise button and also the method you describe Chuck. Having thought about this a bit longer, I should mention that that the web page DOES fill the screen, but the content is only in the centre, as in 4:3 ratio. I can only assume that is probably correct. Sorry if I have given "false info"
Many thanks
