Is 800 x 600 still the standard screen display? I'm asking because I'm trying to verify if this is still a standard to understand how people will see my website.
You are better off working in percentages (or relative) sizes than absolute (or pixel) sizes as well, then the page should scale to fit different screen resolutions far better.
True Chuck although this can spread the page out a bit too far if you want images to be grouped fairly close together. I try to use percentages where I can. If not, 800x600 for the dinosaurs.
I'd hazard a guess at 1280x1024 for 4:3 desktops is the common resolution. Of course, with notebooks being evermore popular, these's going to be all those odd widescreen resolutions too.
