Trouser Hem, arrrggghhhh

One for the ladies probably. The hems on my trousers keep falling down, now I can sew but it's a painful process and the results are not very impressive. Is there a modern solution? Ie something that takes hems up quickly and efficently, probably iron on or something? And if there is where do I get it? Any ideas appreciated. Thanks

Going to regret answewring a girlie question, but you can buy strips that when you iron it acts as a glue and " stiches" the fabric together". Going to sport know, need to be a man.

yes, its called Wunderweb or Wundertape (yes it is spelt that way lol) i got mine from Bettaware �2.99 for a good few metres, you cut it to the length you require, put under the hem, fold hem down and iron! the trousers i have on now have been hemmed up with it and i love it cos i cant sew lol

Tesco sell it, I don't thnk it's called the same but they sell it next to all the cotton/needles and sewing stuff, usually at the end of one of the aisles.

I too would have said wonderweb, and it is so modern that I remember my mother using it 25 years ago!

the delights of wunderweb - being that I am shorter legged than most I use this on all my trousers as long since gave up on finding the correct length. most supermarkets sell it but some are tougher than others.  best to dampen with damp cloth then iron it and then leave it to cool for a while before checking if it is stuck - which it won't be if you check too soon.  does need re-doing sometimes as washing gets it a bit unstuck

Wundaweb tape is the way to go - don't buy the cheaper ones, get the branded one. You can get it in Woolies, John Lewis, most habadashery stores and some good supermarkets. Don't touch the cheapo market stall stuff with a bargepole.

Or, you could always ask your dry cleaners to sew your hems up - they do repairs.

No Tim B, well I wouldn't trust tape in lieu of a bra anyway!

Keeps your clothes put so you can dance the night away (or whatever you're doing) without showing more than you want to!

Toup� tape is stronger but not as kind on the skin :D
