Orange Ad
I don't understand how this is advertising their product, "good things happen when your phone is off" ?? How does that advertise it? can anyone explain?

The other when your phone is off(Renato the street cleaner). I'm confused about this also. So either they made a typo (seems unlikely) or somebody is taking the 'p'. Also, the narration at the end of the adverts are different and one of the narrations says the motto/slogan while the other says something else. That's all I can say about the matter.
The ads aren't selling any product or service. It's telling you about what their Brand stands for.
The Rio ad is reminder to everyone of the all the good things that you can now do as a result of having a mobile phone (rio specifically looks at how people can now be more spontanious).
The NY ad also recognises that mobiles do also have a time and a place in life. Mobiles aren't the be all and end of communications, more a compliment to other lovely ways of communicating (like talking or writting a letter).
