wots the treatment sqad ?
Sqad...bless em...you were never into paediatrics then ...I can tell ?? :-)
tambo....depends where it is.....could still be in the abdomen or down a canal called the Inguinal canal. If it is left undescended, then there is a higher than normal chance of developing a malignancy.......rare.....but the risk is there.

Treatment is by operation to bring down the testicle and stitch it in place in the scrotum.

If the testicle can be felt in the groin...then possibly no treatment is required.
murray.......no! no! no!....just NHS Paediatrics....Private paediatrics with Grommit tubes......made a packet.

I could NOT stand Obstetrics and Gynaecology.......urgggggg! Midwives are a law unto themselves.

I saw a nit nurse and I was taken out of a lesson and into the library at primary school to test my eyesight but noone else in my class was. I think that was around the time that I thought i needed glasses as I didn't think what i saw was normal, but it probably is.
The nit nurse tested your eyesight?
I'm not sure where I sit on this one.

Part of me would be glad it had been picked up on the that the school were taking an interest in the child's health though, especially these days, I'd be a little unsure as to how wise it was in these PC times.

Saying that, it struck me that maybe they wanted to pick up on potential signs of abuse in children that they might not get the chance if they ask permission for a medical examination. However, maybe it'd be a clue to something potentially wrong if permission is refused without good reason.

Is your grandson traumatised because of the examination itself or because of what they found or both?
My daughter, who's now 19 did have medicals at school, last one when she was 16. Parants were not present, but we always got a letter first telling us of this. I don't think I'd be worried, but thankful that this has been spotted. For once I agree with Sqad!! but I also wonder why his parants (who must have bathed) him did not notice! maybe we are all a bit to PC with children now
