To comply with the anti-Money Laundering Regulations I have to produce to a bank an original copy of recent utility bill, council tax or bank statement. Photocopies are not acceptable. Over recent years I've been encouraged to sign up to 'paperless billing' for all these things and the only way to get the documents is to print them off and guess what.....they're classed as photocopies. I've offered to show passport, drivers license, bus pass etc but have told that the system requires the aforementioned items. The world has gone bleedin mad.

It's ID and address and all I want to do is pay in money.

And the bank is meant to know you're not paying in drugs money because of your honest face?

People seem to want to crack down on crime but get all uppity when such measures put them to the most minute inconvenience.

You're right the world has gone bleedin mad!

Thanks vibra. The issue is a particular bank branch where the 'jobsworth' in charge has his own interpretation of what are acceptable supporting documents. This happened this morning and at some inconvenience I paid the cash into another branch without any problem.
