Have just seen the TV news of a supremely brave elderly lady in Northampton who, single-handed, tackled a gang of youths armed with sledgehammers, who were robbing premises, smashing windows, etc. She drove them off with her handbag. 2 or 3 of the gang have been arrested. The others fled on motor-scooters.
This lady truly deserves a medal with a blue ribbon AND a substantial monetary reward.

SP...you bet she struck a chord of fear into them; that her unique bravery would inspire other passers-by to join in, to effect a citizen's arrest. The robbers ran away because a long period in prison was waiting for them. And still is.

Totally agree Scylax. She deserves our thanks. I hope if ever me or mine or my home is attacked there is a little old lady to come to my aid as clearly nobody else is going to.

I've checked jtp's analogies and can find no reference to drowning children or lakes of any temperature.

They seem to be an irrelevant and misleading invention.

Well she's the talk of the town. As I said on another thread, she lives a few doors from my cousin and the press have been camped there all day.
