I too think its all a bit over the top but you are expected to do these things in catering as its a change from the usual and stops you getting bored with your job.
I dont usually work Fridays but may be asked to come in on OTime so thats a bonus.
I didnt know May Day was about to be taken away. What a swizz, give in one hand and take with the other. Typical
What on earth is a cockentrice. I dont think we will be allowed roasted swan. Only the Queen is allowed to eat them isnt she. Wouldnt want one anyway
Thanks for the suggestions. Any others will be appreciated.
I'm saving up to buy them a wedding present.
What do you think I should but them ?
I have switched the heating off and will walk to work to save on petrol costs.
They all do so much for the country. So it seems only right that I should buy them something nice. I however don't feel worthy to even watch the wedding on tv.
you're right, Davethedog, it's only at the proposal stage, so I was premature. The idea is to give us a day off in autumn instead - one with less of a socialist history, presumably, and one not shared with the rest of Europe, though I don't know how that will make international trade easier. I don't specially want a "Trafalgar Day" off in October as it gets cold and the leaves start to fall, but perhaps others like the idea.
I think it is a good idea to abolish May Day. We have so may bank holidays close together it would be a good idea to spread them out a bit. The middle of Autumn would be a good time to have it.
