Publishing a photo without crediting..is there anything you can do?

If someone publishes your photo in a newspaper that you said they could publsh as long as it was credited to you,,and they didn't ,can you do anything?

You could contact the paper and ask them to re-insert the pic in another copy, this time with a byline. Not much they can do after it's printed.

Yes,they can't re-do it as the 'story' has sort of gone now.I'm just wondering if there's anything I can do,e.g get some compensation,money etc.

Sorry,sounds money-grabbing and I'm far from that!It has upset me because they promised to credit me for the article and photo and they didn't.

Doesn't anyone know anything about the law on here ?(I don't I admit),but surely they have infringed copyright laws as it is something I created.

I will,bit of a tricky situation as it wnt from a press association to several newspapers and I just wanted to know my rights first,I guess.

You can write to all the publishers and say that they have broken copyright law by printing a copyrighted image - this is of course if you did copyright the image. If you didn't then you are a bit stuffed depending on what the picture is.

I understand from little research that something original you create is 'naturally copyright and you don't need to do anything else.This is why they always ask permission to print it. I gave permission as long as I was credited,i.e as long as my name appeared somewhere in the article or next to photo,I wasn't after money,just credit.

yup, copyright is intrinsic, you don't have to assert it but may need to be able to prove that you are the creator and copyright holder

O yes joko quite sure.It's only a small article and photo and it definitely has not been credited,and obviously so.I will contact them ,I just wanted to know my legal rights before talking to a solicitor-can't afford that if I have no reason!
