Digital TV ?
6 Answers
Evidently our area will be switching over to Digital in 2 stages in July 2011, We've got a new TV (1 year old) which is digital I believe, I was wondering what happens, has anyone out there switched over yet? How does it work?
They talk about getting a digi-box but will we need one.
I'm a bit in the dark about all this, can anyone turn the light on?

If so you won't need a digibox, but if you want to record programmes you can get a digital freeview recorder box ( I got mine from Argos £100 or thereabouts - just like a digital version of a video). There was a leaflet issued to people in wales, don't know if you would have had one.If you google digital switchover, i'm sure you'll be able to find all the relevant info. Good luck!!!
You live in the same area as me then :)
WY is almost certainly correct in saying your 1 year old TV will be ready for digital, your aerial may not be though.
If you post the make and model of the TV we can check if it's freeview ready or not and if it is you can probably already receive freeview assuming your aerial is upto it.

if you have SKY and you mainly use that for watching TV then nothing will change in regards to that.
the HITACHI DV3 is a freeview box, so that will be fine...
The only thing that is a little confusing is Southend's closest transmitter is Bluebell hill (Maidstone, Kent) and that's not due for switchover until July 2012
