Am stuck on last few - can anyone help me please?
Gets in a rough vertical grid line on map [7] : E-G-I-G [all I can think of is Eagling but can't find a meaning to fit the clue]
Like the writer's fashionable US resort [5] : A-V-N [? Alvin or Alvan - again, I can't confirm either of these answers to fit the clue]
