Has anyone here ever worked as a Housesitter?
9 Answers
Still not found a job yet, but considering almost anything within reason. I am now also thinking of becoming a Housesitter, which would allow me to continue my second profession of writing, but I am told this is very low paid though. Can anyone here confirm or deny this, and can you tell me the sites of reputable housesitting agencies?
Also another thing would my age go against me? I am in my 30s, whereas most of these people are usually retired.
Thanks in advance for any answers.

one of my best friends works as a house/pet sitter. there are plenty of downsides to it. She dosen't work for an agency and gets her own work mainly on word of mouth. The work is very seasonal - she is highly in demand in summer/holiday times, but there are other times when she dosen't work at all. She charges around £20 a day (this is for pet walks and looking after too). However, she still has to rent a place to live, so it's not much more money than she pays for rent, plus she hardly ever gets to go there, cause she's always at other people's houses!
I still have not found the right agency for this, but some of them are charging to register. Should I pay a fee for this, or is it just a big con? See the link below for details:
