yes there is a tear off slip at the bottom that you have to post to the DVLA IN SWANSEA

Oddly enough, you don't.

Do I need a logbook

We can scrap your car without the logbook V5 document. However it is important that you notify the DVLA with a covering letter that you have scrapped your vehicle. You might also want to print an extra copy of our vehicle surrender form and post that to DVLA, Swansea SA99 1BD.

whats to prevent the scrapyard selling the car on if they are so lax at the DVLA about the forms

you hand the car over to the scrapyard, a band of travellers pinch it in the night, next thing you;ve got the law on your doorstep telling you it was in a ram raid on netto and you can;t prove anything

What if somebody salvages the registration plates and sticks them on their car ... before they do an armed robbery !?

goodluck to anyone that tried to nick it from there! it wont even start hence the scrapping of it, its not worth repairing, if i notified the dvla of the scrappage would that stop any ties i had with the car??

The scrapyard gives you a surrender form. You photocopy and keep it as proof you have surrendered it.
There can be no come back.
I scrapped mine 6 months ago without problem.

Hi, guys just letting everyone know, in case its ever useful to someone, I have just had my car picked up for free by the scrap yard, without my logout, i have been given a surrender form that i have to send to dvla with a cover letter that states my name, address, car reg, make model, date taken to scrap yard and also the scrap yards details, it's all good, got a hundred quid out of it :) many thanks to everyone that answered me :) x
